The medieval church of Kraj (former name for Stara Baška) is located on a hill about a hundred metres east of Zala beach, and probably dates back to the 13th century. Due to its unusual orientation (north-south direction) it is assumed that it does not belong to an older period. It was built on the site of a former ancient complex, which is common for many old buildings on the island of Krk.
