Today, it is a developed tourist place with all the necessary amenities. It cannot be said that Njivice had a turbulent and rich history as it is the most recent town on the island, developed initially thanks to tourism. However, according to some archaeological finds, it can be concluded that this area was also inhabited from the earliest times, although these traces are hardly visible today. It was mentioned for the first time in 1474 in the gift of nobleman Ivan VII Frankopan, and through the 15th century it was the land of Omišalj’s castle. In 1710 the “Villa di sasso bianco” or “Beli kamik” was mentioned from where the name of today’s hotel originated. The first hotel was built in 1930, which led to the transformation of a small fishing village into one of the most powerful tourist centres on the island today.
