The Dubec water tower, which is also a symbol of the progress of construction on the island of Krk, gives Omišalj a recognisable aspect. During its construction, carved stone was used allowing it to blend more easily into the Mediterranean architecture of Omišalj. In addition to its impressive appearance, the water tower provided the inhabitants of Omišalj with easier access to potable water as far back as 1925.
